Rare find—Nothing else like this available online, that I could find. 1½d Full sheet, 1½d three panes — 420 stamps5d six panes — 360 stamps1902-1903 Watermark Crown CA. Mint sheets, not creased or folded. Margin edges complete. All unmounted, never hinged. Watermark on edges is visible and reads, “CROWN AGENTS FOR THE COLONIES.” See pics for details. Some signs of aging, mostly on reverse Backstory:I recently inherited this collection and am attempting to dispense of them. My great uncle in England, Herbert H. Hole, RIP, had picked them up in Durban, South Africa, while he was a journalist there for the local newspaper in 1903-1906. My father and grandfather have received numerous appraisals for this collection over the years, including from Stanley Gibbons (London, 2011), R. Colberg (Penn., USA, 2015), H.R. Harmer (London,1948), and Whitfield King (Ipswich, UK, 1920). I still have the letters. While these letters describe the condition as "superb," I do not believe any of these descriptions constitute an official or fair grading or certification. After comparing these stamps to similar ones listed online, I would say they are XF (extremely fine). Please see pics for reference or contact me if you'd like to see more photos. For the past 30 years the stamps have been stored flat, in a folder with clear plastic pages, in a climate controlled environment— my dad’s desk in the USA. Before that, they spent about 70 years in my grandfather’s desk in Ramsgate, Kent, UK. Please message for more info. Thanks for looking.
